How to Buy Gold @ Maybank (Step-by-Step)

Why buy Gold again? Here is why..

You can either buy gold @ Maybank in the form of 1)Kijang Emas Gold Bullion Coins; or 2)Gold Savings Passbook Account.

Gold Savings Passbook Account is like you buy the gold (in grams) and let the bank keep it for you. You will be given a Passbook Account. Your savings will be recorded as how many grams Gold you have, not in terms of how much money you have invested.

Other things to note:

  • Minimum deposit: 5gm
  • Trading unit: Minimum 5gms in multiples of 1gm
  • Fineness: 999.9 gold
  • Administrative charge: 0.25% p.a.

Here is the step-by-step guide to buy Gold as Gold Savings Passbook @Maybank:

  1. Check your cash-how much money you have. (You need to buy in cash term)
  2. Check gold market price here. (RM per gram)
  3. Calculate how many grams you want to buy with the cash you have. E.g. RM 124.38/g x 100grams = RM 12,438.00.
  4. Go to the nearest Maybank branch.  Bring a 1) copy of your I/C, 2) the original I/C, and the 3)Cash.
  5. Go to the counter. You tell them you want to open “Gold Savings Passbook Account“. They will give you normal form to open bank account at Maybank. They will also tell you to fill up the form.
  6. Fill up the form like normal and Pass it back to the counter.
  7. Wait until they call you. When they call you to open the account for you, let them know you want to open “Gold Savings Passbook Account”.
  8. From there, the bank officer will guide for you.

So, say the price of Gold goes down, what to do? Keep it! It’s Gold, the real money! The value is like you have Gold! =D

But, if say you invest in other form of investment, your investment went bad and you are left with that paper, how much can you sell that paper? i mean that paper money.. how cheap can a paper be? toilet paper?
